Your Pathway to Becoming a Qualified Dental Nurse – Step by Step

Completing the NEBDN-accredited Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing (RQF) with Sage Dental Nursing equips you with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience to excel as a professional dental nurse. Here’s the structured journey you will follow as a student:

1. Enrol in the NEBDN-Accredited Level 3 Diploma

Begin your journey by enrolling in the NEBDN-accredited, regulated Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing. This qualification is recognised nationally and prepares you for a successful career in dental nursing.

2. Start Learning: Theory & Tutor Support

The course combines theory and practical assessments, both essential for qualification:

   •          Theory Component: Gain comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of dental practice, including patient care, infection control, clinical procedures, and professional responsibilities.

   •          Learning Formats: Choose the mode of study that suits your lifestyle:

      •          E-Learning (Videos Only): Self-paced learning via pre-recorded modules.

      •          Group Tutor Learning: Weekly online classes with a professional tutor.

      •          Personal Tutor Support: One-on-one tutoring sessions for personalised guidance.

3. Begin Your Portfolio of Evidence (PoE)

Within 1–3 months of enrolment, you will receive access to PebblePad, our online platform for completing the Portfolio of Evidence (PoE). The PoE is your practical record of experience and demonstrates your competence in real dental settings.

4. Gain Practical Experience as a Trainee Dental Nurse

To complete the PoE, you must work as a Trainee Dental Nurse in a registered dental practice. During this period, you will:

   •          Perform clinical tasks and duties under supervision.

   •          Document your practical activities and complete assessments on PebblePad.

   •          Reflect on your experience, demonstrating professional knowledge and skills.

Finding a Placement:

We will assist you in finding a placement in a dental practice. If you are unable to secure a paid position, please contact info@sagedentalnursing.uk to explore voluntary work opportunities. Practical experience must be completed over a period of at least six months to meet NEBDN standards.

5. Prepare for NEBDN Examinations

Once your theory and PoE are complete, you will be eligible to book the NEBDN examinations, held twice a year – in April and November. Ensure your PoE is submitted at least one month before your chosen exam date to allow registration.

6. Achieve Your Qualification

After successfully passing both the theory and practical exams, you will be awarded your Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing. You will also gain:

   •          Your official diploma certificate.
